Breast Cancer Partnership

Bev Marks is a proud Silver Partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and is dedicated to raise funds of $200,000 over the next two years to support the cause and raise awareness of this disease which at one point or another has touch many women’s lives.

For every mattress we sell with the National Breast Cancer sash on it, Bev Marks Australia with the help of Sealy Australia, Bedmaster Bedding, Sleepeezee Bedding, AH Beard and Select-o-pedic will be making a contribution to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

During October 2007 we held a BBQ Pink Ribbon Breakfast at our stores and our suppliers factories to support this fantastic fundraising event. The Pink Ribbon Breakfast is a fundraising event to raise money for Breast Cancer Research, Education and Support program. We received plenty of donations making the Pink Ribbon BBQ Breakfast a great success. We acknowledge all the customers and suppliers who contributed, for your generous support. Your support has helped us get closer to our goal of raising $200,000.00 and to make a significant contribution to the fight against Breast Cancer.

Australian Design Award

Michelle Pataki

Since completing her degree in Industrial Design from RMIT Melbourne, Michelle has worked consistently as an Industrial Designer in a variety of roles and industries. Following a strong-held belief that ‘Form follows Function’, Michelle believes that while the appearance of a product is important, all of her designs must be viable to meet market demands and production parameters.

In 2002, Michelle started a Masters of Design at Swinburne University as part of the CRCWI, focusing her research and design skills on assisting to develop a new wood bending technique for the Australian Furniture manufacturing industry.

Aside from working as a lecturer in Industrial Design for the past 8 years, Michelle is currently involved in an ACIAR project, working with the National University of Laos and the Lao PDR Government to design products that value-add to plantation timbers.

Prior to entering the furniture design field, Michelle has held positions at design consultancies in both Melbourne and Sydney, as well as being an in-house designer at several manufacturing companies, and as a self-employed design consultant and as a part-time lecturer. During this time, she has worked on many different projects in a wide variety of positions. Some of the projects Michelle has been involved in include medical and biomedical equipment (in conjunction with the Bioinstrumentation Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT), child safety devices, household and consumer items and commercial products such as digital mobile eftpos systems.

A mother of two gorgeous girls, Michelle is a regular exhibitor and presenter at Furnitex, as well as having work on permanent exhibition at Holmesglen Tafe as the designer-in-residence for the Furnishing Industry and Design Innovation Centre (FIDIC). She spoke alongside Hon Jacinta Allen MP and Centre Director Philip Ashley at the official opening of the centre in November 2007.
