Girls 2-6

At the age of 2 most children have grown out of the cot and nursery, so its time for a "big kid?s bed" and with that comes the "big kid's room". This really should be a fun time for all of you.

When your child is up and running, they will need a sturdy bed and a good-quality mattress that gives a growing body the support it needs to rest and grow comfortably -- and that will also survive the occasional " jumping on the bed." Experts advise replacing mattresses at least every ten years, so if you have to choose between a supportive new mattress and a new bed frame, choose the former.

When you go mattress shopping, take your youngster along so she can test several mattresses in the price range you've selected. Every body is different, so let your child try out several choices. A mattress used every day for a decade should be one your child will find comfortable from the start.

When decorating the bedroom remember that a child will change thier mind often so don?t go overboard with ultra trendy choices that she will outgrow practically overnight. Be sure to use lots of co-ordinating paints and fun patterns.

If your child is creative and loves drawing and painting buy a number of frames and hang them together to create an art gallery of your child?s work from Pre School. Children are proud to see their artwork on display and they usually have some fantastic colours in them.

Girls aged 2-6 really don?t mind if everything doesn?t match. Instead of colour co-ordinating everything find a theme to develop your childs imagination, because every child likes to role play. This is where your imagination comes in. Think of anything that is fairy tale related, as every little girl is a pretty little princesses and a princess room is perfect. Create the room according to how you see her. Create a new style of princess. One that has flowers and animals and treasures.

Some items that are great for a beautiful princess room are accent pillows, throws, stuffed animals, flowers and mirrors. Plan on pink and shades of pink for this room. Pink is a soft and pleasant colour and it appeals to the soft and feminine nature of young girls.

From this age it?s a good idea to let the kids have there own personal space. Create a cosy corner with a rug; lots of floor cushions and comfy blankets. If you have room include a bookcase for a nice cosy reading nook. The kids will love to snuggle down for reading or quiet games.
